Being a thought leader requires, in our Tier 1 Event Management, Inc. collective opinion, one specific ingredient: inspiration. Your goal is to inspire others with your ideas to become better versions of themselves.
To be inspiring, your vision must be relevant to the efforts of those whom you wish to lead. Otherwise, you’re simply someone with a good idea. Consider these three suggestions from Tier 1 Event Management, Inc. team members to recognize your significance, and then motivate with it:
- Corporate Affiliation Influences Perception: Where you work will impact your reputation. It’s easy to see how an executive at Disney World, for example, might be considered a thought leader on providing exceptional customer service. On the other hand, it might be a stretch for him or her to discuss small business ownership.
- Ponder Your Community: Once you understand where your knowledge will provide the most insight, reflect on the professional community you inhabit. Our fictional exec would have several options to choose from, including resort management, travel and tourism, and entertainment. Those who also work these spheres will best understand and appreciate his or her insights.
- Then, Think Bigger: Once you know your place in the grand scheme of things, you can explain to others how they’re a part of that bigger picture too. Why tourism is good for the global economy, for example, is something we’d read if written by a Disney head honcho.
Tier 1 Event Management, Inc. leaders believe you have it in you to be a thought leader. Understand where your ideas will be most relevant, and then seek to inspire.
